Paris Fashion Week never disappoints, but the Spring/Summer 2025 shows brought an extra layer of magic. As a fashion photographer local to Atlanta, I’ve shot some incredible street styles over the years, but this season at the Miu Miu show was hands down my favorite. The energy, creativity, and effortlessness of attendees were on full display, and as usual, I had my trusty Nikon Z9 and my go-to 70-200mm f/2.8 lens to capture every detail.
The Magic of Miu Miu
Something ineffably charismatic seems to surround the Miu Miu brand. It can be both rebellious and refined simultaneously, making it such a fashion insider's favorite. What stood out this season, though, wasn’t just the runway—although the show was stunning—but the attendees themselves. The way people styled their looks outside the show reflected the playful, bold spirit of Miu Miu, accessorizing in ways that felt simultaneously cutting-edge and timeless.
Miu Miu, designed by Miuccia Prada and named after her childhood nickname, is often seen as Prada's more playful 'younger sister' brand. Initially aimed at a younger crowd, it has since become a favorite among trendsetters and was The Lyst Index's top-selling brand in Q1 2024.
The Power of Accessories
One thing I’ve learned about photographing street style is that accessories are often the heart of an outfit. This was especially true at the Miu Miu show, where attendees used accessories to tell their own unique stories. I noticed a lot of Miu Miu’s signature bags, from quilted shoulder bags to sturdy top-handle pieces, swinging effortlessly in the crook of arms. They added such an elegant touch to the more relaxed, oversized suiting and sheer layering that dominated the crowd.
Mirrored sunglasses were also a key accessory this season. And don’t get me started on the shoes! From buckled pumps to grungy moto boots, each pair seemed to have its own personality.
Shooting with My Nikon Z9 and 70-200mm f/2.8
Whenever I shoot street style, I rely heavily on my Nikon Z9 and my favorite 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. This combination is perfect for capturing sharp, dynamic images even from a distance, which is key when you’re navigating crowded Parisian streets. The Nikon Z9's lightning-fast autofocus paired with the reach and flexibility of the 70-200mm lens allowed me to zoom in on the stunning accessories that elevated each look, while still maintaining crisp focus on the entire outfit.
What I love about this setup is the ability to work discreetly, zooming in from afar without interrupting the natural flow of people arriving at the show. It allows for those candid moments—the quick smile between friends, hair flowing as they walk, the swirl of a coat caught in the breeze. With the Z9's resolution, every glittering embellishment on the bags, every sparkle from the shoes, and every small but significant detail was captured in crystal-clear quality.
Why the Miu Miu Show Stands Out
As a fashion photographer, I’ve covered countless shows and captured the essence of style across different cities. But there was something particularly special about Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 street style. The way attendees leaned into the brand’s playful, boundary-pushing aesthetic was inspiring. I noticed a wonderful mix of vintage and modern, where people weren’t afraid to layer delicate textures with bold, masculine blazers, or pair sleek leather accessories with child-like pleated skirts.
The creativity felt endless, and I found myself constantly drawn to the small, thoughtful ways that people played with proportion and texture.
Why I Love Shooting Street Style
Shooting street-style at events like this is always a thrill. As a photographer based in Atlanta, getting the opportunity to travel and witness such high-fashion moments firsthand is truly a gift. I’ve seen fashion through many lenses, but there’s something so authentic about capturing people in their element, unposed and unapologetically themselves. It is my goal to get inside of the show with media access next year to Miu Miu and other shows like it. So Miu Miu, if you are reading this, hook ya girl up!
