Back in April, I had the pleasure of photographing a launch campaign for D.Puin, a handmade handbag brand rooted in both Bermuda and Ibiza. Founded by Laia Vila, D.Puin is all about creativity, sustainability, and individuality. Each bag is handmade using upcycled materials and designed to carry the spirit of both islands it draws inspiration from.
Each handbag is handmade using upcycled materials, giving new life to fabrics with history and texture. What makes the brand even more special is that Laia’s mother, based in Ibiza, lovingly crafts each bag by hand. It’s a deeply personal, generational collaboration that adds warmth and authenticity to every piece.
As a Bermudian photographer who specializes in fashion and lifestyle work, this project felt close to home—literally and creatively. Laia’s creative direction was clear yet open, making space for collaboration and spontaneity throughout the shoot. The brand’s laid-back yet intentional aesthetic was our guide as we selected locations, styled models, and captured that unmistakable island essence.
The textures, colors, and energy of Bermuda paired perfectly with the spirit of D.Puin. It was a joy to translate the brand’s values—sustainability, individuality, and craftsmanship—into images that tell a story.
With the first drop coming soon, I’m so excited for others to experience the beauty and thoughtfulness behind these bags. D.Puin isn’t just a brand; it’s a heartfelt collaboration between mother and daughter, and a love letter to the islands that inspire them.
